Structural Engineer
Engineer Designer
Calculation-based engineering design work for building structures. Primarily steel, but also concrete, wood, and others occasionally. Capable of using the building codes (IBC and ASCE7) to determine loading requirements on building structures and components. Able to use the AISC steel code to design and detail steel members and their connections. Have an accurate interpretation and clear understanding of design codes and specifications for common construction materials including wood, masonry, steel and concrete, and be able to perform calculations for each. Ability to navigate 3D models such as TEKLA structures (Trimble Connect) and similar as provided by the client to perform the task of reviewing designs and designing structural elements. Utilize spreadsheet type software’s to prepare engineering calculations including Excell and Mathcad 15.0. Must be able to read the reports of common steel connection software including GIZA 22.0, Descon, RISA and other similar and cross check the results using alternate design software and rational design analysis. Ability to operate Bluebeam software to compile and review PDF drawing and calculation packages. Utilization of specialized software design tools (RISA, Descon, AutoCAD, Excel, Mathcad). Project management, customer communications, and price estimating.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering
Experience: Two years in job offered or as a Design Engineer
Special Requirements: ** Two years of experience in the following:
- Understanding of IBC and AISC
- Accurate interpretation and clear understanding of various Design Codes and Specifications
- TEKLA Structures (Trimble Connect)
- Mathcad 15.0
- GIZA 22.0
- Bluebeam
